Tomorrow morning (July 4th 2009) the Statue of Liberty will be open for business after being closed since 9/11/2001. New York authorities felt it was a big target and not worth the risk of having people up in there. So, tomorrow if you would like to sail to the island and walk up the stairs to the crown, you will need to make reservations.Tickets will cost an additional $3 and will be combined with reserved ferry tickets, which are currently $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children. You can make reservations for up to a year in advance, but competition is going to be fierce as the National Park Service is limiting the number of visitors to the statue's crown to ten at a time, with about three groups ascending the crown per hour.
try making reservations online at Statue Cruises or by calling 877- LADY-TIX.
