Hotels and restaurants are comparatively more expensive, and even theater and museum tickets cost a tidy sum. So what is a New York tourist on a shoestring budget to do? For one, you can read this NYC restaurant guide and enjoy some of the culinary best the city has to offer without having to spend too much money. With a little creativity, you can make your NY vacation one of the most memorable ever, at least gastronomically speaking.
Definitely, prices of anything at Times Square are ridiculously high so better get out of there when cash is a primary concern for you. Take a short trip to the Upper East Side to a little joint called JG Melon and have one of the best burgers in the nation there. You may not find this diner in most NYC restaurant guides. For less than $15, you'll get their famous burger, fries, and bloody Mary combo. Quite a steal compared to the $18 - $20 burger and it's not even Kobe beef you can get from a Times Square food chain.
If you prefer Italian, make a detour to the East Village and look for the restaurant called Supper. Surprisingly, this dig is frequented even by big name celebrities like Martin Short, Andrea Martin, and Victor Garber. It features daily risotto specials and a great selection of wines. Supper is a small, quaint family-style diner that may find you sharing a table with other guests. This is part of the appeal, though; just don't go there during the weekend as you may be made to wait a long time before getting seated.
Brunch is something common to the busy New York locals. So why not have one while you are there? Aside from having a true NY experience, you get to save a meal as well which is good for your pocket. Brunch also means a festival of food and set menus in NY that usually offers a combo of breakfast menus with biscuits and coffee - for $10 to $18. Try one at Clinton Street Bakery for the best in country style breakfast, or Prune for a more unique fare, or Paprika where you can get green eggs (scrambled eggs served on top of grilled polenta and pesto with chopped tomatoes) for only$10.
Pizza is another delicacy NYC is famous for. There are many affordable pizza joints you can choose from such as Bravo and Two Boots. Bravo near Union square offers some of the best White Pie slices you will ever taste as well as the best Margaritas in NY. On the other hand, Two Boots in East Village features "The Byrd", a buffalo chicken and blue cheese pizza combo that can put most other pizzas from more expensive joints to shame.
Remember that when in New York, you can find anything including affordable food. Be adventurous. You do not always need a NYC restaurant guide to find some of the best yet affordable diners in the city. Sometimes you can find these family-run shops and small cafes in mom & pop stores or in drives.

Shawn H is the owner of the NYC Dining Guide and is always looking for ways to improve the way you search for great Restaurants in New York City.

Top Boutiques in NYC

You want to dress yourself in your style, your own mark then New York City has the answer! This 100,000 sq-ft (9,290sq m) world-class museum, developed in the former Cunard Passenger Ship Line building yard at a cost of $93 million, will house interactive sports exhibits for all ages and cover sports worldwide. Founded by Philip Schwalb, its mission is to celebrate the history of all sports and their significance in our lives and culture, on local, national and global levels. In fact, it brings together over 50 single sports halls of fame, museums and organizations across the US that will provide exhibits and memorabilia. It also includes a Women's Hall of Fame, headed by Billie Jean King and will be home to the prestigious Heisman Trophy, which has been awarded to some of the most notable athletes of the 20th century.
The National Sports Museum is a vibrant family attraction, with exciting exhibits, activities and interactive multimedia displays. It also offers rotating exhibits, great shopping opportunities, learning programs, a special event space and a sports-themed eatery. Surrounded by the key visitor sites of Lower Manhattan, the museum at Bowling Green will provide a slightly unusual as well as popular stop for those visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, as it is situated just two blocks from the ferries and only four blocks from the World Trade Center Memorial site. It is also near Battery Park, and is estimated to attract some 1.2 million visitors each year upon, more than any other sports museum in the country.

For more info on NYC, New York and Tour and City Info.
For info about Whister Mountain, BC and Tour and City Info.

NYC, New York - Nolita - Little Italy

Nolita stands for North of Little Italy, stretching from Houston Street in the north to Kenmare Street in the south, and Lafayette Street in the west to Bowery in the east. This area was widely regarded as part of Little Italy until recent decades when it started to lose its Italian identity following the steady relocation of Italian-Americans to outer boroughs.
Thanks to reasonable rents and vacant property, the latter half of the 1990s saw an influx of young urban professionals and it's now acknowledged as a trendy, upmarket neighborhood. Thanks to this recent regeneration, the area is filled with cosmopolitan cafes, bars and restaurants. There's also an edgy vibe to this cool neighbourhood, which is why it's become a magnet for fashionable boutiques selling exclusive one-off products by up-and-coming designers. Prices tend to be lower than those in more commercial SoHo so it attracts its share of the fashion-conscious crowd.
The neighborhood's most notable historic building is St Patrick's Old Cathedral, at the corner of Mott and Prince streets, which was erected in 1815 and rebuilt after a fire in 1868. It was Manhattan's main Catholic cathedral for years until a new St Patrick's was opened on 5th Avenue in Midtown in 1879. The original St Patrick's Old Cathedral (260-264 Prince Street at Mott Street) is now used as a parish church and visitors are welcome to take a look around. Another landmark in the area is the Puck Building on the corner of Houston and Lafayette streets. The ornate structure, built in 1885, was the original headquarters of the now defunct Puck magazine.

For more information about NYC, New York feel free to visit GuidedTourNewYork.com.
For information about the molecule man in Berlin, Germany visit GuidedTourBerlin.com.

NYC, New York - SoHo

SoHo is one of the most attractive, vibrant areas of the city. It stands for South of Houston and is bordered by Lafayette Street on the east, 6th Avenue to the west and Canal Street to the south. Originally a slum where penniless artists took advantage of the loft spaces left by manufacturing warehouses, the area was threatened with demolition in the 1960s. Thankfully, activists fought to protect the rare cast -iron architecture and the district was saved. This small area now contains the world's largest concentration of cast-iron architecture, the heart of which is Greene Street, where 50 buildings put up between 1869 and 1895 can be found on five cobblestone blocks. Most of them are built in a neoclassical revival style, with Corinthium columns and intricately designed cast-iron facades, upheld today as industrial works of art.
It wasn't until the 1970s, when the first art galleries started opening, and the booming 1980s, that it became a truly desirable place to live in. In 1992, The Guggenheim opened a downtown branch on Broadway at Prince Street confirming SoHo's reputation as the area for art and design. However, rents soared and now it's only New York's prosperous that can afford to live in this fashionable neighbourhood, with many artists moving to nearby, and less expensive, Chelsea and TriBeCa. There are still some galleries in SoHo today, though the Guggenheim has now shut to be replaced by Prada's futuristic flagship store (see Shopping page 176). This is a sign of the times as SoHo is more synonymous with fashion and beauty boutiques, funky restaurants and cool hotels, which line the cobbled streets.
As well as satisfying the urges of shopaholics, SoHo also has several historic and architectural places of interest. An unusual site for visitors is The Broken Kilometer at 393 West Broadway, an installation by Waiter De Maria which uses 500 brass rods to play tricks on the viewer's perspective. Hunt out the attractive Little Singer Building, which was constructed in 1904 for the sewing machine company. The 12-storey facade is wonderfully ornate, with wrought-iron balconies and graceful arches. Visit the New York City Fire Museum, which houses a fascinating collection of Manhattan firefighting equipment and memorabilia from the 18th to 20th centuries. Children love the upstairs, with rows of gleaming original fire engines. The only existing art museum in the area is ~MoMa's New Museum of Contemporary Art, which moved from Broadway to Bowery. Filled with original art works, it's a must-see for those with a passion for modern art. The up-to-the-minute Media Lounge explores digital art and video installations. On the border of Little Italy lies the Children's Museum of the Arts. This is a fabulous place to take kids (it can be used as a reward for enduring a morning of shopping in SoHo) as they have free run of an art playground, which includes a giant f1oor-to-ceiling chalkboard. There are also computers for them to use and regular workshops by local artists.

For more information about Soho or the New York Knicks visit http://GuidedTourNewYork.com
For more information about Montreal Quecbec, or the Montreal Candiens visit http://GuidedTourMontreal.com

NYC, New York - Trinity Church

At the western end of the mile-long (1.6km) stretch known as the Wall Street, named after the wooden wall built to protect Dutch colonialists from possible attack, lies the neo-Gothic Trinity Church. It may seem incongruous to find a place of worship in this den of capitalism, but there has been a church on this site since the end of the 17th century. Although now surrounded by the towering skyscrapers of financial institutions, Trinity stands stoically amid the hustle and bustle.
For the first 50 years after the current structure was built, this Episcopalian church's 280-foot (86m) spire made it the tallest structure in New York. It was built in 1846 as the third church on this site, and was one of the grandest churches of its day. Designed by English architect, Richard Upjohn, this rosy sandstone, square-towered Gothic revival building has exquisite sculpted bronze doors - designed by Richard Morris Hunt, inspired by the Doors of Paradise at the baptistery in Florence.
As one of America's oldest Anglican parishes, it has played a pivotal role in the religious life of the nation, aiding schools, hospitals, immigrants and the poor and disadvantaged over the centuries. The museum has a collection of old sermons, diaries, photographs and burial records on display.
Alexander Hamilton, the country's first Secretary of State, is buried among the cracked tombstones in its shady cemetery, along with Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat, William Bradford, who started New York's first newspaper, and the signatories of the Declaration of Independence.

For more information about NYC, New York visit GuidedTourNewYork.com.
For more information about Las Vegas, Nevada visit GuidedTourLasVegas.com.

NYC, New York - National Museum of the American Indian

This is the first museum dedicated entirely to Native American history, performing arts and culture. The museum's Film and Video Center has daily screenings relating to themes of importance in contemporary Native American life - one is especially designed for families. It also hosts an internationally renowned biennial Native American Film and Video Festival. The excavation works in the 1960s to build the deep foundations for the World Trade Center, destroyed by terrorists on 11 September, 2001, created enough granite blocks of earth to form 22 acres (9ha) of new land, which became home to the Battery Park City and the World Financial Center. In the Battery Park area, Castle Clinton originally stood on an island. Built in 1811 as one of several forts to defend New York Harbor, it is now part of Manhattan and used as a ferry ticket office.
The opening of new shops and cafes and the remodeling of the Battery Park public spaces have given the area a whole new lease of life and it is now on most visitors' tick list of sights to see. Northwest of Battery Park, you'll find a relatively new area of land known as Battery Park City, which was created by landfill. It's still pretty much a quiet district, though there has been plenty of development. This is home to two of New York's newer museums: the Museum of Jewish Heritage, which has been so successful that there are plans for an extension, and at 39 Battery Place is the Skyscraper Museum, which tells the fascinating story of the creation of all those famous tall buildings. On the south em tip of the city is the recently landscaped Robert Wagner Junior Park, which has a cafe and street vendors selling food and drink and is a wonderful place to sit and gaze at the harbour. To the north is the World Financial Center, which has four tower blocks and a full calendar of fairs and festivals. See the nearby Winter Garden, a glass-ceilinged public plaza decorated with palm trees.

For an online guided tour of NYC or for more information about the City of New York, visit http://www.GuidedTourNewYork.com.
For an online guided tour of Tokyo, Japan or for more information about the city of Tokyo, visit http://www.GuidedTourTokyo.com.

NYC, New York - TriBeCa

The acronym stands for Triangle Below Canal Street, which makes its immediate neighbour hip SoHo. TriBeCa today is also synonymous with the Robert De Niro-initiated annual film festival, first started in 2002.
Like SoHo, TriBeCa also has its fair share of cast -iron buildings and pretty cobbled streets. Harrison Street and White Street are its finest rows of preserved, elegant town houses, which are very picturesque. Towards the end of the 1980s, artists who had previously lived in SoHo found themselves priced out of the market and moved into TriBeCa. Consequently, although gentrification is now taking place in this tiny neighbourhood, it's filled with recording studios, artists' residences, galleries and graphics businesses. The area's biggest artistic coup was when the TriBeCa Film Center opened at 375 Greenwich Street, which is part-owned by Robert De Niro and includes movie production offices and screening rooms.
The businesses that have sprung up as a result of the film center make this one of the most exciting areas of the city to experience; The TriBeCa Grill on the ground floor is where movie movers and shakers eat, and is a great place for hanging out if you can afford the prices. The TriBeCa Grand Hotel, an uber-hip boutique hotel set in a triangular building, is where movie moguls lay their heads. As well as a magnet for the new and fashionable, TriBeCa also has some historic places of merit, including the Morgan Library. This was created by the area's most famous resident, multimillionaire financier JP Morgan, who knocked through his neighbouring brownstone to expand his library. Today it houses his unique collection of manuscripts, paintings, prints and furniture.

For more information about NYC, New York visit GuidedTourNewYork.com.
For more information about Stockholm visit GuidedTourStockholm.com.
